Diverse Planning Projects for Entire Airport System
Ricondo was awarded a 3-year On-Call Aviation Planning Services contract for the Houston Airport System (HAS). The scope of the On-Call Aviation Planning Services contract included providing aviation planning services for George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), and Ellington Airport (EFD) and Spaceport.
Ricondo has led several diverse planning projects for each of the three airports, including domestic terminal gate expansion plans for IAH, a baggage claim expansion at HOU, and commercial development proposals for EFD. The Terminal A Expansion Advanced Planning project developed multiple expansion alternatives for IAH. The Advanced Planning alternatives ranged from expanding the terminal by four, eight, and twelve gates. These alternatives were designed to modernize the terminal and increase gate capacity to meet the robust growth of ultra-low-cost carriers and other domestic air carriers. Key elements of the expansion program include the addition of airline gates and holdrooms, a security screening checkpoint expansion, airline ticket lobby enhancements, and parking garage modification
Ricondo is presently working on a Baggage Claim Expansion Advanced Planning project for HOU. This project includes the development of domestic baggage claim requirements and the creation of baggage claim expansion concepts. The Ricondo Team has worked with HAS Planning and the airlines to develop demand forecasts for the baggage claim devices.
Other tasks completed by Ricondo cover a broad range of technical capabilities; they include Sustainability Management Plan implementation support for IAH and HOU, Airport Operations Center planning and parking analysis for IAH, and terminal expansion planning and roadway simulation at IAH.
